Percentage & Ratio Calculator

Compare two numbers: find what percent one is of the other, their simplified ratio, and the percent change between them.

Percentage change vs. percentage points

A jump from 20% to 25% is a 5 percentage-point increase, but a 25% relative increase in the underlying rate. These describe the same change in different ways, and mixing them up is one of the most common misreadings of statistics in the news.

Why order matters in "percent of"

"20 is what percent of 80" and "80 is what percent of 20" use the same two numbers but give very different answers — 25% versus 400%. Always check which number is the whole and which is the part before trusting the result.
